Longford Sports Partnership is hosting a Swim Ireland Helper Certificate course on Saturday, 24th November 2012. This course is available to any club, group or individual and is not restricted to clubs affiliated to Swim Ireland. The aim of the course is to give candidates a basic technical and safety knowledge and equip them with an awareness of disability issues. It aims to equip candidates with basic knowledge of skills to enable them to help in the conducting of a session led by a qualified Swim Ireland Teacher.
To do this course, you do not need to be a swimmer. It is about teaching candidates how to enjoy games and activities in a group scenario for people with disabilities / individual sessions. Following the course, candidates should be able to support and give their pupil confidence by making their swimming sessions as enjoyable and beneficial as possible.
Who may be interested in doing this course?
- Parents of children with disabilities.
- Siblings / relatives of people with disabilities.
- Anyone working with people with disabilities.
- Students who may want to work with people with disabilities.
- Students ? transition year groups.
- Volunteers who work with people with disabilities / individuals.
(Please note that participants must be over 16 years of age)
Please complete registration form (available on website) and return together with the registration fee of ?50
(cheques should to be made payable to Longford County Council)
Completed form and registration fee should be returned to Longford Sports Partnership,
